Speedrunners have reached the point of doing heap feng shui in Wind Waker to (IIUC) fragment the heap in a specific way, and thus make a malloc() of a game-blocking object fail. I love this scene.

I think of this as the logical extreme of speed running... You beat the game by running arbitrary code to set the state of your save file

Speedrunning is crazy in regard to what people figure out and do to improve. Arbitrary script jumps like "do these 30 things and then do this single thing in sub-30 millisecond window at a certain second few minutes into the run".
