Yeah I’m mostly thinking about the American universities, exploding tuitions, for-profit college, and the general economic trap that is laid for lower middle class aspirants here.

Scattered high-level musings on higher ed:
It simply no longer works for the vast majority of middle class students who are attending 2nd/3rd rate universities & amassing enormous amounts of debt.
Bubble = Trillion dollar student loan bubble & irrational psychosocial dynamics👇

What are some examples of marvellous projects human beings have undertaken that took ~ a century or more?

Entrance polling last night showed people care more about a candidate’s ability to beat Trump than their policies. The low turnout suggests the same. Why don’t more people know that @AndrewYang is the guy? #YangUpgradesAmerica pic.twitter.com/1mcxzJjKvi

The very task of programming is actually an act of self-deception: we convince ourselves that we can push complicated systems through trillions of steps of state evolution, without runaway complexity
Some think Coding is Engineering; others argue it’s Art.
To me, it’s Westworld

Yes, absolutely. And size isn’t just heads or acreage, but *memetic span*.
In the Fiction called America, Voting is the Fictive Agency that creates the Fictive Kinship across tribes that should, by any reasonable model, be at total war with each other.

We all woke up
Democracy is a quaint story the top tier tell the clueless middle, to keep the lower caste in line.
People bemoan low voter turnout, not realizing that neither the bottom nor the top vote.

If only we had the technology to "count" "votes"...
Hey @reddit @Twitter @instagram @YouTube, I see you laughing in the corner! Someday when you guys eventually move off of paper tallies, you too will be faced with this unsurmountable technology problem

Whether government lives in Washington or whether it’s a distributed center for defending open protocols in the tech sphere, the idea that “simplifying governance” leads to *more* agency is a naive dream.

Things can always be made to seem like they work well, and “they just come to you”.
The point of a middle class of Simple/Consumer Ricks is to keep Worker Ricks in line.
The Council of Ricks knows this, and appreciates it when others remove themselves from the chaos battleground.

Yeah.... and that Simple Rick mentality of not understanding *why* human systems get gnarlier at scale, leads to all those “small govt” conservatives utterly getting pwned by centers of tech running cybernetic loops around them.
(Just like Simple Rick!)
