- Do you know what a hoggee is? Hoggee's were the hired hands who drove the teams of mules that pulled barges along the . Mules walked along the towpath pulling barges- that same towpath that today is used for the trail.

Green Lakes State Park acquired 160 acres from the Sisters of St. Francis of Neumann Communities Spirituality and Nature Center in March. The expansion is part of several State Parks land protection projects that cover more than 760 acres in CNY and the Southern Tier.
