Updating a client file from seven years ago, and was reminded of this. I love people’s honesty.

Folks in SE MI: today is the kind of day where your average dog doesn’t need to wear a coat. They’re too warm, panting, frustrated with you. Please listen to them.

If you’re conflicted, as a health care professional, about providing particular services to clients, patients or consumers, you need to find another line of work.

I finished this book yesterday & it was better than anything @BrenéBrown has written. If you’re in a field with few peers as I am, this is a must-read.

Rep on phone by this point softened, appreciated my willingness to work WITH them, instead of getting pissed off or rigid. Never underestimate the power of empathy, active troubleshooting (no blame) & kind language while not sacrificing accountability on all sides.

As it turns out, this office is understaffed, undertrained. high turnover in staffing. I empathized, while holding them accountable for dropping the ball while it was in their possession. “Going fwd, I’ll be making an effort to recognize any lapses I see. Will that help?”, I said

Getting back in gear at home + took care of a very sticky sitch where the other party is accustomed to needing to be rigid, firm, scripted in any dialogue. Their job isn’t easy, nor fun but I tried to make it less-stressful & so that we could figure out a equitable solution.

This week, I had some terrific conversations with people that I didn’t know. I’m grateful to them for trusting me with their stories. Some endured some pretty serious hardship that I’ve no experience with & a couple of them are still navigating out of it. I learned things.
