The stubborn obfuscation of Custom Audiences and Lookalike Audiences is at the heart of the controversy or inability to understand, and why the NYU Ad Observatory has to build research tools that then trigger Facebook to slap back.

In the usual fashion, only adtech people understand the impenetrable concepts but Facebook doesn't provide the data for mere mortals of civil society to grasp it. It's like trying to understand credit default swaps and collateralized debt obligations.

Pseudoprivacy is when an unknown, unaccountable data monger assigns you a new name and then tracks, models, and profiles you without your informed consent or ability to access or object to it and then defines that as “privacy”

When people are able learn exactly how their personal data gets used to target them for marketing they don’t want it anymore. It’s no wonder then that Experian will be appealing their ICO Enforcement Notice and the adtech industry fights the Right of Access, the Right to Know.

“We recognise that while some individuals may be happy to have their data bought/sold for direct marketing purposes and for profiles/models to be built using it, others will not be. However, if individuals do not know that processing is happening, they cannot make this decision.”

The mockery may squirt neurotransmitters when we are exhausted and depressed but it also helps with keeping the zone flooded. It drowns out what matters with nonsense, keeps a ridiculous falsification on life support. Truth challenges us to ignore it, suffocate it, and bury it.

Why has CNP not fixed its website to prevent Brent from so easily finding its so-called confidential meetings and materials? There’s now a documentary on it so its hilariously bad cybersec is no longer a secret either. Unsurprisingly, the CNP’s 2020 election plan is diabolical.
