Interesting piece revealing the difficulties of applying automatic marriage protections to cohabitants after a period of time. Opt-out proposals to date in England and Wales don’t come close to this but certainly an issue policy-makers here need to appreciate when/if(!) we reform

Important statement on the complexities of extending civil partnerships to opp-sex couples (as predicted conversion and adultery for the purposes of dissolution). Might also want to consider nullity (consummation), pater est presumption and foreign recognition of an opp-sex CP.
