The #36c3 talk "Let's play Infokrieg" was enlightening about that issue. youtu.be/jU8B677HcJg

So it goes. An account I was interested in regarding spreading fake information relating to Brexit - @gregory55046341 - has disappeared. So have many other accounts they followed and followed them back. Those nasty trolls have all been deleted now Brexit is done. They worked.

I remember attending a talk and an academic mentioning how a botnet was used for a particular campaign (Brexit) and then went dormant, only to wake up speaking French for the Presidential elections. I wonder how many of these will be repurposed.

I know people who are convinced that only Trump/Brexit/AfD can save their country. They become active in every major election or public debate.
These people are no bots, no trolls, no russian sock puppets, but people who seem to base their worldview on Fox News/Bild/tabloids/…

What if we are dealing with an international, xenophobic, right-wing movement that we ignore because we believe that AI-controlled social bots that brainwash people are more plausible?
