Route 199 remains closed. On the south side Dispatch reports it's closed about 15.6 miles from U.S. 101 and on the north side at the Oregon border. These photos were sent in from Idlewild Maintenance. At this time there is no estimated time of reopening.

Route 199 in Del Norte County is closed due to a rock slide. On the south side it'll be closed about 15.6 miles from U.S. 101 and on the north side at the Oregon border. Estimated time of opening is 2 hours.

If you thought it rained a lot yesterday in Crescent City you would be correct! Déjà vu anyone...April 8th's 101 year old precip record was broken this was also the 6th wettest 2 day period in April since 1894 (4.80"). Drier wx on tap this afternoon.

Requa Road - one slide, open to one lane, expected to be cleared by end of the day Klamath Beach - two slides, open to one lane, expected to be cleared by end of day Fred Haight - completely open Sand Mine Road is flooded and will remain closed through the day.

Highway 197 is now open. Thank you to CalTrans for their hard work!

The slide in Hwy 197 at mm 1.2 is now expected to be closed to through traffic through the night. CalTrans crews are still working quickly and safely to clear the road. No changes on other closures.

If heavy rains typically causes flooding near your home or business, you may want to get some sand bags, fill them and protect your properties. You can buy some at the Crescent City Home Depot (while supplies last). As of the time of this post, they only have 500 bags.
