"It’s not a compliment when someone tells you you’re a survivor. It’s bullshit. We’re all survivors till we die. Get out there, go for it, don’t be afraid. Be a winner—that’s what it’s all about." -- Robert Evans, legend of Hollywood, RIP

The persuasive narrative that has people thinking of life as a contest where success means outdoing others or defeating others is something we can mature past. How about aiming for rich relationships, overcoming difficulties (as opposed to losers). Aim to thrive not just survive

Usually telling someone about how they are a survivor is meant to help people who are having serious difficulties and aren't in a position to win any interpersonal contests. For THEM, realizing how they've beat the odds so amazingly is encouraging.

"You know what my problem was?" he said. "I had a loose dick." James nodded, and Evans put an arm around his shoulder. "I want you to listen to me now," he went on. "Any guy that says he understands the mind of a woman is a liar."
A moment I'll never forget! RIP
