Chinese Central Academy of Fine Arts requests a student sexual harassed by a professor to delete her post. In two days the relative hashtag got 610 million hits on Weibo. Several day’s ago in a video interview this student accused that the university has been repressed her voice.

Shanghai University of Finance and Economics announced to dismiss Qian Fengsheng 钱逢胜, the professor alleged sexual assaulting student(s). The first case of these days that a harasser got dismissed from his university but not just disqualified as teacher.

We must work harder to talk to overseas Chinese students, get them involved in human rights cause in ways they can take, and help them to rid of fear-it is so challenging for all of us. I am not talking about changing others’ mind, but providing alternative choices and support.

Sad to hear this. I spoke for panels sponsored by Columbia for several times ( once along with Teng Biao) and was happy to see those Chinese students very much concerned about human rights. Students should have opportunity to access dissent voices taboo in their/our homelands.

I wrote an commentary on the latest promise of the Education Ministry about preventing sexual harassment mechanism. Several minutes after I posted this article to my WeChat public account, it was censored. I am sad that people within China can’t access to my opinion.

吕频被性骚扰的自述是中国metoo展览中20多份被铁丝网包围和刺破的自述之一。现在想来,展览时不断有人无意中勾住而拉倒尖锐的铁网真是个很好的隐喻,我听志愿者说布展时竖起这些铁丝网很费劲要很小心。
