NR's Peter Hendy is to oversee operator efforts to keep passengers safe by following government guidance. I assume the DfT means train operators. Seems odd that it's not RDG doing this.

i can see the logic. RDG would use it as an excuse to spend three months renaming themselves again, then writing a report on it, then never getting round to actually doing it.

Mr Bull, you need to lay off those tablets - they're making you excessively sceptical!

Think it may be a hand-in-hand setup - RDG doing strategic items and NwR overseeing day-to-day which in fairness isn’t the RDG’s role. RDG has already done the suite of signage and comms packs for TOCs which is now in cascade (I’ve received access myself)

Might as well dig out some 'Heart of the Railway' branding and make NR the guiding mind...

Simple answer is. If Unions and TOCs have been working on a timeframe of introducing more passengers onto the networks( that BJ totally ignored last Sunday) then all Staff ate Stations need to do is find out what 20% capacity is of each train. Only let that amount into train.

Legally they can't enforce social distancing and stop passengers boarding.

Peter Hendy has years of operating experience on a very crowded network. He’s got the knowledge and clout to bang heads if needed.
