AND Remain in Mexico and Metering have pushed the entire border system to the brink. This isn’t happening in isolation, it is interconnected to direct actions by President Trump. There isn’t a silver bullet, but quite clear the actions taken have made the situation worse.

Instead the combo of Trump Admin actions of: cutting aid to northern triangle dealing with historic flood and violence, threatening to close border spurring more migration, family separation which was not only horrific but also massively strained the ORR/resettlement process...

You do it by surging resources to the border, asylum officers, judges etc, while also setting up a more formal refugee resettlement process where people are able to apply in country for humanitarian relief instead of just having people fleeing arrive at the border.

President Trump ensured a central face of his immigration policy & presidency leading into 2020 is an effort to end DACA, & ultimately force 700k Dreamers out of their jobs & the only country most know as home President Todd Schulte

It’s a huge difference and it matters. Kids that arrive unaccompanied at the border MUST be turned over to ORR, which is run by HHS, while guardians are found inside the US to care for them. The alternative is they sit in jail(or in CBP stations which might be worse) with adults

More people need to read to understand what is happening. HHS facilities are the FAR better situations for UACs before they get placed with relatives in the US. Of course still huge problems, but ICE or CBP facilities are no place for kids.

If you are angry about Trump weaponizing a long broken immigration system & what you're seeing now, then yes, pour your heart/money/time into helping these families right now--but you must demand a new President prioritize fixing our broken immigration immediately when elected.
