Meanwhile PBP TD says that the government should go further in order to avoid a series of rolling lockdowns. He adds that schools should get an extra week of midterm break in order to work through the concerns of teachers.

is right, there is no exit strategy to govt plan. Micheál Martin himself, has raised the spectre of future lockdowns and rolling restrictions. We need a strategy to give people hope, and certainty.

Fines do not work or help with public health compliance - research carried out by behavioural psychologists in NUIG recently showed this. We need to support ppl thru restrictions + focus on education so people are empowered and convinced!

"where's the fines for the meat plant owners" asks Which comes a day after beef baron Larry Goodman was named #3 richest man in Ireland, with wealth increasing by €15m/week, what a pertinent question. And of course, Miriam ignores it and moves swiftly on!

Reports coming in that City Direct will be suspending their services again when Level 5 comes into effect. We've contacted the company for them to confirm or deny. If true, it's again a glaring example of the problem with privatising our public services.

Last night Mícheál Martin dismissed a zero covid strategy, cynically misrepresenting what it actually means. A Zero Covid strategy does not mean zero cases of Covid. It simply means getting the virus under sufficient control that every case can be tested, traced, and isolated.

Today I asked the Taoiseach if he would stop the disgraceful situation of student nurses being unpaid while they are making a major contribution to the fight against COVID. Taoiseach said he would look at it and we will be keeping on the issue

Once again -- I hope the full PUP is restored to people, but when carers & people with disabilities are left in poverty during a pandemic, why aren't there calls for these payments to be raised? Many carers earned good money before losing jobs to care. Why is that different?

This is the strategy of the government spelt out - yo-yoing in and out of lockdown. What a nightmare for people. is not what Taoiseach presented tonight. It can be done and is the way to avoid this for next year.

The Govt are endangering the social solidarity needed for the coming weeks of Level 5 by not fully restoring PUP & failing to restore eviction ban & mortgage break. To protect mental health & wellbeing, we must remove all financial & housing pressures from people impacted

If we don't follow through this time and crush Covid-19, we will be back here again and again. Thousands of deaths, rolling lockdowns and creaking hospital capacity for 2-3 years. People can't do that. is the way out:

Can't imagine the stress, fatigue & burnout facing health workers over next few months. For their sake, for public health & for mental health we need a strategy to ensure this is the last lockdown & the last time our health service is pushed to these limits.
