I'm constantly going back to compare what I do today to what I've done in the past to see if the small variation, tweak, or new technique is improving my design and crafting a more cinematic image. Color &cinematography go hand in hand, as they always did, but now more than ever.

Been playing with LOW SOFT and HIGH SOFT controls in which are really awesome tools that, I feel, have a subtle but powerful effect on footage.

Spec shooting I’m working on. This particular shot was awesome. We found this alley that had a cool distant view of Manhattan and the sun setting down the long view of the alley behind the city. Really beautiful area. Nice and gritty and lots of texture.

Thank you, Brady! The show looks so beautiful, so I was interested in what went into the look.

I did a write up on my exploration of a softer contrast look. What sparked my current exploration of this technique is reading an article Panasonic released about 's work on the Netflix series "Anne With An E." Enjoy!

(5 of 5) Experimenting with a gloomy soft look with lifted blacks which reduces the apparent contrast. I'm really liking the texture and the way everything feels here. It's really gloomy and has a nice feeling to me.
