I've always enjoyed "Engineering a compiler" - great intro book

We should have the things people turn to microservices for: compike/test speed, separate deployment, clear team boundaries, separate scaling

Monolithic codebases is good, how we deal with larger codebases is bad

I just wrote an outline for a post called "GitHub caused the microservice mess". Do people want to read this?

We had a ton of investors, and we put them in an @angelList SPV. One name on the cap table, one signature.

Lots of progress in the last 20 years
2000: just sprinkle const til it works
2020: just sprinkle await until it works

I tend to find that anyone looking for a panacea in Dark will be disappointed. We're _just_ trying to make coding better 😂

that's pretty cool. I'm sorta sad that codegen is the only way to do this but still a good option

yeah, something structured. Even mongo is more typed than trying to get data into the right string format for your SQL dialect to accept it!

Does SQL predate Unix? I think so but it's murky. Though the drivers for SQL DBs are certainly unix-y so it could be to blame for sure
