In Big Sur Apple decided to exempt many of its apps from being routed thru the frameworks they now require 3rd-party firewalls to use (LuLu, Little Snitch, etc.) 🧐 Q: Could this be (ab)used by malware to also bypass such firewalls? πŸ€” A: Apparently yes, and trivially so 😬😱😭

The (now confirmed?) security & privacy risks of this design decision, were of course communicated clearly to Apple prior to Big Sur's release / FB8817119 πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Of course that can/will be abused. Its a logic flaw and I dont see the morivation behind that choice.

I can think of two: 1. Telemetry and similar telemetry-like services 2. Less support calls due to weird configs Both bad/lazy

If Microsoft had done something like this circa 1999, it would have been used as evidence in the antitrust suit.

This is definitely going to come up in Apple's current and future lawsuits, and I look forward to it. It's comical, at this point, how much evidence they keep throwing at us. It's almost insulting even…
