The IR training pathways were mandated by the ACGME to follow the new ABMS recognition of IR as a primary specialty. The nomenclature aside (I agree it’s confusing), the pathways are consistent in that two years of clinical IR training is required. And DR min req must be met.

SIR’s Fellows Spring Practicum, the largest IR Fellows course. 30 faculty dropping knowledge to >100 trainees. Short didactics, case discussion, hands-on workshops, networking receptions.

Many excellent IRs are performing life saving stroke intervention. The treatment works and we can provide greater access to patients by developing a path to train future IRs in stroke care.
