They blew it by calling it “arugula.” Should call it “rocket” like the Brits!

I will be far more upset if you’ve never seen Parks and Rec.

! We send out a monthly newsletter featuring a chosen MG book, author interview, activity, recipe, and discussion questions, followed by a Twitter chat! And we work hard to promote diverse/own voices and topics not often talked about in MG.

I began writing 10yrs ago when my kids were 1 & 3. Since then, I’ve written dozens of short stories/articles + 5 novels, queried & signed w/an agent. All while homeschooling (and working full time the last 2yrs). Don’t let anyone tell you motherhood = the death of your dreams.

4.5 months and 58,762 words later, I FINALLY finished the first draft of my 4th children’s novel. It’s 10,000 words too long and the plot has about as much stability as a kindergarten…

My gut instinct is that Pringles is a lie. I am way too excited to find out the answer. 😂 Also, whichever of these are true should get added to your agent bio because they’re all great. 😉

A5: I think both. Because both the head and the heart can hold fear, and fear is what produces hate. I think it’s our souls that know we were made for love.

A4: I think they come to understand and have empathy for each other. The horrors they face on their journey remind them of the importance of family and loving one another. It gave them a whole new bond, an awareness of the fragility of life.

A3: Kazi was one of my absolute favorite characters. I loved how he quietly encouraged Nisha to blossom into the person she was meant to be. And I loved how fiercely loyal they were to each other. (Plus, I love to cook, so he was dear to my heart immediately!)

A2: I identified a lot with Nisha. From her quietness, to her ability to process her thoughts so much easier on paper than out loud, to her confusion over how people could be so cruel to one another. I loved her character!

A1: I definitely channel my emotions through my writing and art. I'm the type of person that often has a hard time feeling my feels, and it's always easier for me to acknowledge and process them through words, whether that's journaling or storytelling!
