So, have added their Instagram data to the main toolbox, including the rather helpful influencer search which lets you filter by all kinds of fun things or by hashtag - h/t to for the spot

Are they sharing revenues in a better way? Is the long-mooted exodus from YouTube on? Does IGTV not work because of Facebook ownership?

I mean, I'm *loving* the creativity on there & it makes the most of increasing phone camera quality. But, what is going to make this stick when previous short video platforms didn't (& people moved to YouTube so they could monetise)?

So, cos I'm old I have a question. What's doing that's different to Vine, except being a bit more stylish?

This is obviously a common test that loads of SEOs will have seen... But still, this is an ugly looking layout with the URL above the blue link. Kind of looks Bing-ish somehow?

Hopefully so, but based on how often we find Googlebot crawling all kinds of things what's the chance on some popular sites they don't think the nofollow is relevant and start crawling faceted pages? The change from 'rule' to 'hint' makes me nervous

The argument for these changes for publications (where blanket nofollowing is clearly skewing parts of link graph that should be active) makes sense - though the amount of comment spam & article links for sale is going to go through the roof - but ecommerce sites are impacted

Oh yeah, for sure. For most sites adapting JS for filtering isn't possible & they use the layout you suggest (or nofollow > noindex). Every time Google does the 'just trust us to work it out' we'll find many cases where it goes wrong

Google using nofollow as a hint? I think the Blackhat SEOs are going to have a field day with this one.

Agreed. It's a tricky balance that's just been made much harder. Unless you can do JS filtering and introduce static URLs for any filtering variants you want to be indexed (for long tail purposes) there is no perfect solution. SEO advice will need to be bespoke for each shop
