Amazing work by the casuals at Melb Uni!!! Shows that the higher ed doesn’t just has to accept the corporate model, but that there’s potential for wins against causalisation and so more more when workers get organised and fight!

As *every piece* of national & global public health advice is to reduce numbers of people incarcerated, the Morrison Govt is OPENING a detention centre and transferring non-citizens from across the country to an island 1500ks away. This is punitive policy at its very worst.

There are more than 20 COVID cases in Vic prisons right now, including 11 young ppl in Parkville. The reality is restrictions + lock downs will always be harder for those in prison and will last longer than any community response. “Protection” in the form of further punishment.

Do you reckon Vic’s outbreak has anything to do with it being the only state to privatise quarantine management, and having the smallest public health team, or is it because of young people who can’t stop partying while Covid positive? It’s a tricky one.
