The Sun only changes 0.8% of the mass of the Hydrogen to energy; it does NOT change all the consumed Hydrogen to “pure energy”, as 99.2% of the mass stays around as Helium.

Dennis, I so enjoyed this article, thank you. It momentarily took this old guy back to his early wonder and awe of space. It also reminded the current me that we’re not doing very well with this impossible miracle we’ve been given.

I notice you lifted parts of your article directly from the press release. But you changed "plasma" to "gas," which is incorrect. Bad reporting.
