North Korea didn’t do anything unusual today. Love the SK defense ministry’s revelations about how much it knows, though.

There’s a lot I don’t know and understand about this case, but police not rendering aid after they’ve shot someone - however justified - is murder.

South Koreans murdered or injured in cold blood. Others imprisoned by the North Korean regime. Defectors repatriated without due process. Being willing to erase these people is the human cost of a single-minded engagement strategy that rejects even basic norms of reciprocity.

I am preemptively depressed at the eagerness with which ROKG will try to sweep this incident under the rug. The man and his family deserve the truth, but his own government simply isn’t interested in anything that disrupts their narrative.

Maybe these images will help people understand how wild it is that she sat on the federal bench for 40 years and only hired *one* Black clerk.

“I think it’s going to be another Democratic president” after Obama, said. “The Democrats do fine in presidential elections; their problem is they can’t get out the vote in the midterm elections.” From 2013, when Dems had a Senate Majority.

Event marking the third anniversary of the unveiling of the Comfort Women memorial in San Francisco, this Saturday the 26th. Box lunches (dosirak), boxes (?) of 50 masks, pens, tshirts, and some sort of bag will be provided, and you'll have your temperature checked at entrance.

Brilliant e-mail finding tip, although normally Google doesn't allow truncation in search queries (only in operators and in this example)

NEW - As Xinjiang's mass labour scheme expands, Tibet is set to follow suit, with around 15% of the population targeted for military-style vocational training in 2020, with a goal to "effectively eliminate 'lazy people'"

Really, this piece is so obnoxious on so many levels, and it's a really long "own the libs"-style rant, but it explains why they'll most likely go with Barrett.

Quite possible: "Presenting Amy Barrett [for] confirmation would tee up yet another potential disaster for the Democrats just like her confirmation for the 7th Circuit was, and it would do so when virtually every American is watching intently."

This is a fascinating story about a police officer in Atlanta who says the police and real estate developers were (are?) conspiring to gentrify a neighborhood by getting its Section 8 tenants evicted with bullshit felonies

Great thread on how countries are ruled by “norms,” and what happens when they start to be ignored.
