we’ve seen versions of this argument in Hollywood as well... it’s total garbage. a side effect of absurdly low-hanging fruit like Harvey is that when another man is accused of assault pigboys can bleat “bullshit, where are the other 49 women he assaulted?” there aren’t always 50!

as wild as the Whelan thread was, most conservative pushback will look like this: a qualified-but-supportive signal-boost of a concerned-sounding essay that amounts to “he’s our guy, so fuck off.” it’s supremely polished filth

Charging documents say he offered a woman a ride, then strangled her unconscious and masturbated on her. He pleaded guilty to a single felony assault charge and got no jail time. I mean, why would he, prolly just horseplay

Nice summary here, if you don’t follow debate on US Yemen policy or aren’t sure why you should:

This h.s. diary from on sexual trauma is sadly representative. Because they're scared it's their fault, most teens wouldn't ask for help. Instead they might write in a journal and litigate it there. Bc that's what emotional intelligence looks like when you're young

Fancy Democratic Party lawyers who would never go to bat for Wayne LaPierre or Pat Roberts or give the time of day to climate deniers or folks who say tax cuts increase revenue, suck up to the constitutional law analogues of those guys.

yup. stop proving trite cocktail party tropes true, DC libs — Whelan and his compatriots are idiotic monsters, no matter how many times you’ve chatted pleasantly with them at the store

More broadly, I think we are excessively concerned about whether political processes are fair to the politicians we like, rather than whether they serve the public well. They are instruments, here to serve us.

Interesting that most Republicans feel like they have to speak nicely about Dr. Ford while undermining her accusation. Like we will forget the others and believe they’re acting in her best interest.

For me, it was only a non-violent attempt but I said nothing because he was my coach and I idolized him and thought it was my fault for wearing shorts. (He is now in prison because 20 years later, a 14 yo DID tell and was believed.)

A horrific series of tweets certainly occurred. But those looking to assign primary responsibility for the incident just might have the wrong guy.

If Whelan cared about truth and not just emitting as much fog as necessary to get his pal confirmed, he could have asked Ford about this theory, as real journalists did. Ofc if Whelan cared about truth, he wouldn't vehemently oppose to a background check. Kind of a big tip off
