Indeed. Their “let the voters decide” is not least among their most disingenuous lines.

Knowing that that’s exactly what it was and that acquittal was coming didn’t seem to prepare me for the punch-in-the-gut overwhelming nausea I feel.

Did you see the Parade’s End miniseries back in 2012? Really enjoyed that.

Think of it as something to look forward to! :)
(I felt that way when I finally caught up with some Ford Maddox Ford a few years back — couldn’t believe I’d never encountered him, with an M. A. in literature and a focus in Brit lit! 😳)

He’s a fascinating writer, As a sort of outlier, closeted his whole life, I believe, and also a conscientious objector to WWI, he has really piercing insights on class & colonialism.

A couple of years back, Zoe Chace had a great segment on This American Life about this — on the party as it was (re)created by both Limbaugh and Gingrich.

(Incidentally, we need more women filmmakers making big genre films like this — and with that, more freedom to succeed or fail. As it is, too much always rides on the perceived success of the individual women who get to make “big” films.)

In theory, I love the idea of an incompetent assassin. And Reed Morano, w/ some bravura sequences, & w/ Lively’s all-in performance, aims to elevate the nonsensical story. I wish it worked better. David & I discuss it here: twitter.com/davechensky/st…
