I guess working on technology is 50% being amazed by people being more brilliant and human than you thought possible and 50% lifting up veneer and being like ‘this bridge is actually held up by seven toothpicks and an angry raccoon’

Finally. If you break into someone’s account that should put you at least in community service. If you choose to publish clearly private information (especially intimate pictures) you should 1) be in jail 2) have your equivalent information - incl images - published as well.

Another day another attempt by to make me miss work by stopping for no reason. Seriously Bart management should have their pay scaled by % of on time trains.

The argument on the internet is that every application may need a different version of the library. We solved this problem in the 70s with ABI stability in shared objects.

Literally everything on the internet says step one of any project is to make a new package with cargo. Not just to use rustc. It's like a command line version of RAD environments of the 90s

So I then tried to build a test of the library with rustc -- but it can't find the package. Apparently specifying the library location in the search path or otherwise (-L or -l) doesn't work.

So I checked out the source and built manually -- another task that only seems doable using the package manager. It still isn't possible to install the library. Cool design there.

I was going to play with QCGPU-rust out of curiosity, but you can't install it with the required package manager because a library is apparently not a binary.

I am sick of these new languages that don't believe in actually having a semblance of ABI stability. The claim that your *package* manager is part of rust indicates a broken language design.

This is an anti-pattern for people on the receiving end of researcher reports. There is no reason to behave this way.

My college experience in one anecdote: i said “take guns away from domestic abusers. That means almost half of police force” My professor &classmates were like “WOAH cite yourself that sounds widely inaccurate” then someone looked up the statistics & they were all like “oh”

Remember when the Bush admin. was nearly derailed for how poorly they handled hurricane Katrina relief? Puerto Rico still doesn't have full power, clean water, or fully functioning cities. This is disgraceful. How are we allowing the Trump admin. to get away with this?
