So excited to share intriguing behavioral evidence that schema memory forms early, decays with time and yet still influences episodic retrieval more when those memories are weaker. The plot thickens...amazing collab with !

The 2020 Kavli Summer Institute in Cognitive Neuroscience topics and application deadline (Jan 31, 2020) have been announced. I can't recommend it enough as a learning, training, and networking experience for ECRs!

An interesting new study shows that prior knowledge affects the direction of novel associations in the brain. This is a nice neural finding that complements our recent behavioral findings of directionality driven by prior knowledge. Different threads coming together!

Sorry for the creepy hidden faces in the figures, only for publication, participants saw images of actual faces ;)

Excited to share: prior knowledge changes the direction of novel associations in the brain - separation in the hippocampus, but assimilation in cortex. So thankful to and Anat Maril for a wonderful collaboration!

Also I think that Yael Niv’s papers were recommended already, and a lot are relevant, but more specifically I’d look at recent work by on reward and episodic memory/event segmentation.

Our Psych Review paper is finally online! Longest production process ever, but also longest paper I've written. TLDR: storing info in memory depletes a limited resource that recovers gradually over time. Comp model. Ties together disparate old findings and tests new predictions.

How does the brain transform continuous experience into memorable episodes? Check out my new preprint w/ suggesting that a surge in arousal at ‘event boundaries’ helps construct memories of discrete events!
