I have recurring ideas about perception, but I think this one came from a notification from a banking app on my phone. The message was half useful, requiring visiting the app to get real understanding. Within the app a non-native notification offered me a loan.

I can see the internal logic: they offered me something of value in order to instrument my behaviour to their needs. Why are we not in control of the way our attention is instrumented in the way that a programmer debugging an application is?

My logic followed me into the real world because I'd also been thinking about how people decide to partake in or buy particular experiences based on 'measures' of value. For example, visiting a market growing in popularity.
