"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it gives you a boost." When kids aren't focused on their grumbling tummies, they're able to focus on learning. Here's how one school is helping kids get the food they need to succeed in the classroom: 👇

Historically, anti-poverty programs have had strong, bipartisan support because they are an investment in our nation’s greatest resource: its people. We will continue to stand up for kids by standing up for the programs that help them grow up strong.

We should always be working to ensure all kids in the U.S. can get the food they need to grow up healthy, strong and successful, no matter their families’ circumstances. Tell the USDA: Don’t take food from kids.

SNAP and school meals often work hand in hand. Kids can get the healthy food they need from one or both programs. For example, during the summer when school is out, kids no longer have access to school meals and SNAP can help fill the gaps.

The bad news is 13 million kids live with hunger in the U.S., but the good news is that the issue is solvable because it’s mostly due to lack of access not lack of resources. We have everything we need to end childhood hunger in the U.S. That’s why we do the work we do!

Hunger is a complicated issue and it isn’t fair to assume that all children go hungry because of parental neglect. No matter the reason a child is experiencing hunger, it’s never their fault. That’s why we work to be the change they need so they can discover a bright future.

Federal nutrition programs work together to close the gap between kids who have enough to eat and those who don’t. We work with elected leaders from both parties to find practical, effective ways to connect kids to the food they need to grow up healthy and strong.

Our goal is to make sure every child has access to three healthy meals a day so they can focus on their next test, not where their next meal is coming from.

Did you know obesity and hunger often go hand in hand? When the cheapest item at the store is the unhealthiest, sometimes it’s hard to make a different choice. If you’re interested in nutrition education for people on a budget, check out our sister program .

We're a nonpartisan, 501c3 campaign. Our focus isn't on Democrat or Republican, but on working with representatives from both sides of the aisle to get kids and teens the healthy meals they need.

Each dollar we earn invested that money in programs like school breakfast and summer meals as well as fundraising, and only 8 percent in overhead. We work with local food banks, schools and programs all over the country, so we love the local approach too!
