Sure, but then again, you wouldn’t want to compare yourself with this shit just to say you’re a lighter shade of brown, aye?

Hm, I see you’re Turkish (correct me if wrong), so I guess there’s some religious/social subtexts in this. If I were you I would present it as an asset to the family - honouring the family by becoming better, representing the family in the best light possible

You're right, with one disclaimer: Ευπάθειες were supposed to be a layer on top of stoic apathy, supposed to provide a long-term happiness and stableness of life, so that you don't end up leaving a bland life. From , page 111, but it's in Greek.

Allow yourself to get high on the positives, and you've just made yourself vulnerable to an opposite swing if something negative happens. Under stoicism, your life should slowly flatten and linearly head towards a short of perma-hapiness, instead of it being sine wave like.

Lol, I don't know where you got that from? Stoicism is exactly about not being swung, by any short of emotion, be it positive or negative. By doing that, you achieve a higher form of happiness, equanimity and tranquility.

It would be cool if mathematicians decided it's more important for maths to be solid rather than original; if combing through the archives and properly proving theorems became fashionable.

Agreed, 1 is also my issue. It's hard to implement, because I like to think that it's always better to find ways to expand my balance sheet and increase cash flows, rather than find a shit hole to live in and get depressed, just so it's cheaper.

Agreed. I happened to come across the video yesterday, and I couldn’t help but notice that this dude’s body language is not very masculine, which to me as a viewer was very alienating. Like something was very off.

You can't choose what happens to you. But you can always choose how you react to it.

I think it’s generally accepted that it’s because we didn’t have any dramatic market condition changes all these years, accompanied with hefty amounts of open market operations by central banks.
