This! And why even an “open” option? Why would I long press if I wanted to open?

I learned a lot tonight. This is what dev tools tells me in Edge by just visiting eBay. The website is port scanning my laptop, bypassing my firewall, and doing it in/from the browser. It checked 14 ports. Let's discuss. 1/5

I have never once wanted to actually fold my code in Xcode. Every time I do it accidentally, I spend a good 20 seconds figuring out how to undo it

$17 billion in debt. Imagine how their creditors felt back when they were merely, say, one billion dollars in debt. Man. All this grownup business stuff sure is crazy, ain't it.

The macOS security team needs to ask themselves hard questions about their implementation choices when very smart people are disabling huge parts of their OS security layer just to get reasonable performance from common tasks. macOS 10.15: Slow by Design

A week ago, posted a photo to Twitter (left) and ended up with something unexpected (right). It turns out that many moons ago, I broke JPEGs for a very small subset of images 🤦‍♂️ I'll just briefly share the bug and what happened.

my favourite macOS bug that's been around forever is how over time any bluetooth audio out will shift the audio balance to the left, driving you completely insane because you think you're going deaf in your right ear

Please

The Internet Archive has over 200,000 recordings of 78rpm records, digitized using a custom 4-head turntable and in stereo to get the maximum data off them. Audio restorer has been using this abundance of data to improve the sound greatly:

So multitasking via popovers in iOS: worst design, or worst design? I've had multiple family members message me just this week asking how to get rid of “the stupid window on the side” and not being able to do it, even when I explain to them how to.

"These dollars are meant to make a founder feel rich and successful early, so they get a taste of what they might feel like if their company goes up another 100x. Think of it as cocaine – once you have it once, you want even more of it later.”

What!? When you live in a somewhat civilized country you sometimes forget that some countries in the EU are still in the Middle Ages.
