Off the Earth, for the Earth. Another amazing science instrument mounted outside , this one scanning Earth to study CO2 emission and absorption on scales as never before. The Orbiting Carbon Observatory-3 brings environmental studies to a whole new level!

Humans reshape nature. China's Shanghai metropolitan area has expanded into the East China Sea through land-reclamation techniques. Well over 220 sq mi (570 sq km) were added from 1985-2016. See further growth through July 2019 & more "images of change":

About a year ago, we launched a "GEDI" to the ! The Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation uses lasers to construct 3D maps of Earth’s forests, providing a better understanding of our planet’s carbon cycle. Take a first look at the data:

The Sun plays essentially no role in the observed warming of the Earth over the past 5 decades. Thus it would also have little impact on Mars surface temperatures as well.

The fingerprint of climate change is detected from any single day in the observed global record since early 2012, and since 1999 on the basis of a year of data. Detection is robust even when ignoring the long-term global warming trend.

In the same sense that raw ingredients are not a fine souffle, raw temperatures do not an instrumental record make.

Current temperatures and much warmer than the 60s and 70s, which were warmer than several decades earlier in the instrumental record. Warming is unabated in all datasets.
