TNG cast is an exploration of some awesome questions: Picard: what is strength when power isn’t a factor? Riker: what could nontoxic male sexuality look like? Troi: what would it look like for power to respect emotional truth? Data: what is a person even?

Geordie: what if people with disabilities weren’t defined by them? Worf: what would it mean to be a warrior in a peaceful society? O’Brien: what’s a working class bloke do in utopia? Lwaxana: what if older women were treated as fully human, with agency and sexuality?

Even the “villains”— Klingons: how can we relate productively with our own history? Lore: how does childhood trauma shape us? Borg: what happens when you allow a monoculture to dominate? Cardassians: how is fascism seductive?

What does it mean that the most advanced, powerful ship in starfleet carries the families of the crew with it? That it’s explicitly not a war ship? What does that say about the society that made it? Who in our society today is fighting for that future?

The Enterprise is often the most powerful weapon in any given episode. Picard could almost always just choose to destroy his enemy and move on. 'strength when power isn't a factor' is not 'who would win the fight?' but 'how can we both win?'
