Indeed. But hard to do does not equal impossible. Merely undone for now. The “amazon button” was a nice attempt to try and figure that out. WiFi is only free up to the uplink - you are paying for it somehow. I do appreciate the “most indoor products” scoping of your statement.

The one thing I miss here is the angle where the connectivity is priced into the product like with cars today. Maybe the consumer is not the customer.
