In retrospect it was prob a bad idea to elect the guy who bragged about being able to kill New Yorkers without consequence

If you want people to stop using Zoom, make the open source alternatives better. I care about privacy. Of course I do. If I can't SEE OR HEAR PEOPLE and have to reload several times, the tool does not work and yes, I will use the proprietary thing.

Whatever identity infrastructure is put in place to verify immunity and allow safe and gradual return out of isolation, is likely to end up being the de facto standard post-pandemic. 🤔😬

What's the easiest service or aoproach you'd recommend for this these days? I've used previously but I honestly don't know what else I'd suggest. It's the kind of thing you'd hope would build into Firefox but they've totally ceded this ground to chromium 🙄

With the crisis of climate change looming, let's pick where to send our public money carefully, eh? Let's keep alive the industry of tomorrow, not the industry of yesterday.

what this company did is bullshit. I've been laid off, I've been trained to lay people off, & I've done it more than once. you don't do it this way, & when you do something this consequential this wrong, people remember.

The fact that scientists were right to warn for decades about a pandemic makes me wonder if they might be right about global warming too

I normally find watching my own talks excruciating, but this 20 min talk from the Festival of Maintenance I'm fairly happy with. It's a high level tour of strategies & actions you can take as a responsible digital professional, and the other vids are totally worth watch too.

Did I see you Americans are getting a one-time $1200 check to cover COVID unemployment? Because Canada just announced $2000/month for the next four months.
