From my perspective in DC, knowing several of the folks in Congress who were listening, she gave the best possible testimony we could hope for from anyone. Poised, persuasive, and hammered home the message of American innovation, technology as a competition-enhancing public good.

“You’re making tech culture toxic!!!”, I wrote, as I joined a dogpile against a guy on the other side of the world that I’d never met.

This is exactly why it’s important to draw a distinction between Bitcoin and Facebook’s Libra, and we’ve been working hard to do it…

Important work on lowering resource use to keep barriers for entry low (eg assumeutxo) is happening which will be necessary if resource burden ever increases for capacity or privacy reasons or just growth. There are no magic solutions, so Core doesn't pretend to have them.

"Crypto gee-whiz" provides building blocks for addressing major problems of privacy/fungibility as well as tools to help those building layers on top. "Actual problem" of capacity can't be solved by simple on-chain scaling. That battle is over for now.

My personal belief is it’s entirely possible to be good toxic in the first dimension and not bad toxic in the second at the same time.

I think there are just two different conversations going on. Keeping bad ideas out of the evolution of Bitcoin is important but simultaneously for it to succeed as money it would be very helpful to grow the community in an inclusive way.

I wasn’t trying to criticize a particular example but just making the point we should always strive for the ideal. There is a difference between an immune system rejecting stupid ideas and general jerkish behavior. We have examples of both.

But more fundamentally, I think it’s a mistake to think that diversity implies not finding the best person for the job. If you don’t widen the search pool and create an environment welcoming to others, then you almost certainly won’t find the best person.

One (among many) counter argument to this viewpoint that might resonate with you is that optimizing for each “job” individually does not lead to optimizing for the organization as a whole.

No, but I strongly support someone else opening a Chaincode Labs like organization or other center for support of Bitcoin R&D.

Can you also kindly replace the text of the link to from the assets section from “Official Website” to just “Website”? Currently it gives the dangerous impression to less familiar users that Bitcoin has an official website which it clearly doesn’t. Thanks.
