Also a Salute to Vets. A favorite moment: when former Huntington Center dock master Tom Cox was honored. The Vietnam vet passed away in April at age 70. Tom had an infectious smile, and always a kind word. That smile was never wider than when it appeared up on that video board.

Quite a start to the season for the 's all-time leading scorer. Shane Berschbach has 19 points in 11 games. The franchise's all-time leader in points (286) and assists (202) is now 2nd in goals scored (84). He ranks 2nd in the ECHL in overall scoring (8 G, 11 A).

Genoa senior Jacob Plantz has been named the Northern Buckeye Conference player of the year. Plantz, who has led the No. 1 ranked Comets to the regional finals, also has been named to the All-NBC first team as a quarterback and as a defensive back.
