Drove through the city (Melbourne) for the first time this year. I was dreading the traffic near Flinders St and St Kilda Rd. But there was hardly any. Same through the city. My how it's been devastated. And I'd say 50% of pedestrians had face masks-- even though not required.

That's the shot! Patriotic duty before self. ...and just when I thought it was safe to put the stopper back the bottle after the lockdown.

When are we going to ditch these freaking masks! Victoria is the ONLY state in Australia where they are compulsory. No covid cases for a month--- and we are forced to go about wearing these things, against the recommendation of the Federal Health Dept.

Our local Westfield shopping centre in eastern suburbs of Melbourne, at least 26 shops are closed and we didn't look in every part of it so probably over 30. Partly coronavirus related, partly because the place has become a dump.

It always intrigued me that an anthropomorphic mouse (Mickey) could have a dog as his best friend (Goofy), and that he could also have a dog (Pluto) as a pet.

The Mongo Curse strikes again. Yesterday, out of the blue, I thought of Alan Ramsey, the former grumpy political reporter and press secretary to Bill Hayden way back. Today his death is announced.

There's been much debate about the Bunnings sausage thing, you know: onions on top, onions on the bottom. There is just one choice. NO sausage! Cheapest "meat" available in the crappiest sliced white bread available. Want a BBQ sausage -- get 100% Italian pork in real bread.

Thanksgiving markets closed in the US on Thursday which is Friday in Australian time. So traders here could rush for the exit a day earlier on Thursday instead of the usual Friday.

These hands were made for building. The satisfaction of seeing the project rise from an intangible image in the mind...to a 3-D construction which is practical, functional. And for fixing, seeing an otherwise dead machine rise like the phoenix from the ashes of death, reborn.

Yes indeed. Gold as a metal does have intrinsic value: mainly anti-corrosive and conductive. But it's far greater worth is not to use it. Weird, as you say.
