To raise the farmer's income, we launched Kusum scheme where farmers can set up solar plants on their land by paying just 10% of total costs. They can generate electricity and earn money by selling it to Govt.

We have a target of 175 GW RE by 2022, 107 GW is already installed or under installation. As far as land issues are concerned, we have come up with UMPP policy which will make available land & transmission together for RE projects. So the prices of RE power will come down.

Spoke at the 17th meeting of IRENA Council in Abu Dhabi. India would have installed 175 GW of RE capacity by 2022 without taking into account large hydro and 225 GW including large hydro. By 2030 India plans to establish 500 GW of RE capacity.
