Summary: lots of Google's decisions *could* be interpreted as anti-competitive, but also *could* be interpreted as being (much) better for users. DOJ seems to take the most nefarious interpretation. Google will argue the other way...

Seems relevant. Again, suggests how poorly thought out this antitrust claim is.

As we all know, George Washington (who had no biological children) certainly could not care about the future of this country because his stake it in would only be civic and idealistic, not genetic.

Warning Sign That You Might Be In A Cult: When they say that voting for your guy will bring about the Apocalypse... and they frame it as a good thing. "If Trump wins, EVERYBODY DIES! Isn't that awesome?"

Kinda what happens when you rush the lawsuit out for political, rather than legal, reasons. And explains why a bunch of the DOJ antitrust lawyers working on this refused to support it, knowing it was too weak.

It's kind of crazy that this still needs to be said (again) and written, but was (understandably) annoyed that people are still getting this wrong:

It looks like the market has determined how strong it thinks the DOJ's antitrust lawsuit is...

I... um... what...? No. The benefit of working from home is *not* that you can do whatever you want. What the fuck is wrong with you people? And the reason there haven't been a ton of these incidents is that MOST PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THIS.

There’s a lot wrong here. 1) “You will get bitten if you poke the bear” is blaming the victims of violence. 2) "condemning the activities that caused” brutality? No, cartoons do not *cause* violence. People who shoot or behead other people cause brutality.

Two political opponents appearing together in a PSA to say, hey, let's not rip society apart and let's remember we all need to live and work together for a better future. It's the most anti-2020 thing I've seen in 2020 and makes me just slightly hopeful for the future

For blast from the past, read this 1993 Heritage Foundation document on the perils of the fairness doctrine. They seem skeptical that the threat of investigation by government officials would promote the inclusion of differing views.

Newsmax preempted their schedule to broadcast the president’s rally but apparently didn’t think it important to change the title of the programming.

I’ve long thought would make a great, tough-but-fair NYT public editor. Read this thread and you’ll get a sense of why. (It’s not too late!)

Dear U.S. journalists: This may not seem like the most important issue right now, but please take note that the DHS is proposing massive restrictions for foreign correspondents. The plan is to limit their stay in the U.S. to 240 days (from 5 years)!

The amazing book “What It Takes,” by Richard Ben Cramer, published in 1992, reports on Biden’s struggle with his stutter in detail. People like the one below who brandish their ignorance as evidence are something else.

This must be why the US had to break up Xerox, Kleenex, band-aid, Whac-a-mole, and Kool-aid.
