About to board my flight to Paris. My journey to meet trailblazing historian Natalie Zemon Davis has begun! So ... if you were to interview her, what would you ask her about archives, women’s history, and/or the writing of women’s lives?

Laura 'has experimented with methods of “breaking in” to “locked” documents secured with historical techniques, by writing messages in invisible ink, creating forgeries of secret letters, and casting wax seals to create new seals.'

Almost right. It’s an MA thesis, rather than a PhD (the Dutch word ‘doctoraal’ causes confusion in that respect). The inventory is transcribed in part 2.2: I believe Craven inherited some paintings directly from Elizabeth.

I'm here to tell you we've all been doing email wrong. Just had an out of office reply which says 'in my absence, a short extract from Elizabeth Barrett Browning...'

BÈTA-WETENSCHAPPERS TEGEN BEZUINIGINGEN IN ANDERE WETENSCHAPSGEBIEDEN. Mooi gebaar — méér dan een gebaar trouwens. Bèta’s tonen solidariteit met alfa-gamma-medisch.

Dutch Friends, what is the best source for the composition of the Dutch Army at Hulst in 1645? Traditional numbers don't add up. If 4x English regiments, 3x Scots, 1x French are there, how come only 2.5k soldiers.
