Security researchers will have the time of their lives, the 90s all over again. tfn2k20? Only Google will control access to their resources, not the firewalls. QUIC is hijacking the Internet and network security as we know it. Interesting times. /3.

The QUIC stack will be some random package on github that is pulled in by the language of your choice. The programs will not utilize any kind of privsep because the QUIC stack will run in the same process. Who cares. Packet filters are obsolete because the OS is not involved. 2/

Good summary of HTTP/3. So weโ€™ll replace matured, well-reviewed TCP/IP stacks in OS kernels with QUIC stacks in applications such as Chrome and create QUIC implementations per language such as Go, Lua, Rust, node.js, Python, C++, Java, etc. 1/

Now that browsers have crossed the Rubicon and are skipping 'gethostbyname()' (or equivalent) & the stub resolver, nothing technically stops them from validating themselves. Currently they even will now skip your *own* system validation btw!

Fewer features but less code, better quality, and chroot/privdrop/pledge โ€œsecure by defaultโ€ (unveil is a TODO). Unique features such as sync and pf integration. Much of the dhcpd code has been rewritten by and is being improved by many developers since then.

So here's a fun DNS over HTTPs (DoH) statistic. I currently measure 22 TCP port 443 packets per query. With UDP that would be 2 packets per query. So count on a factor of *10* increase in packets per second for DoH. 1/2
