This is the crux of the challenge of category creation. You can categorize by a set of tasks, a set of outputs, a set of data interacted with, etc. And others will invariably muddy the waters on the category by saying, “well we do x part of it”. We run into this all the time

The central idea with Prometheus is, “You can’t afford what you want, but we’ll be clever and do our best to give you something else.” Though that may be true in some rare cases, it’s not the norm. You can in fact afford what you want.

Personally, I always start at “what makes you not” my category, and focus on those big wedges. Otherwise, you can run into the death by 1000 cuts of differentiation
