Don't make idols of human beings. The cult of celebrity is a big part of why we're in the mess we're in as a society-- b/c we worship images of fame & fortune often in absence of substance. I'm not saying don't be a fan or don't have a hero. I'm saying don't worship human beings

Meanwhile the giddy right wing reaction to Kanye is the latest reminder of their absolute thirst for a foot in the door of current popular culture. They act like they're satisfied with Ted Nugent & Chachi but it's just not true. They have political power but crave cultural power.

4. Unarmed African Americans are at least twice as likely to be shot & killed by police as unarmed white Americans. This isn't whining - this is a factual racial disparity. SOURCE:

It's not just about Starbucks. It's about when white people use the police to remove black people from a particular space. Recall what a McKinney, Texas cop did to a 100 pound, swimsuit-clad black girl when the police were called on a pool party:

Colin Kaepernick is my friend. I have welcomed this man into my home. It is a despicable lie that he does not have plans for his future - for football or for activism. I've heard the plans & dreams. He is football ready and will continue supporting causes. Period.

Hi Sean. Did you disclose to your bosses that you were Cohen’s client while you were talking about him on air? Does your workplace have a standards and practices department? Did you feel no obligation to disclose your relationship w/ Cohen to your viewers?

These owners want to have their “Your name is Toby” moment with Eric Reid and Colin Kaepernick. They want them to say “I love your league more than I love my people.” The owners want to break them. The problem is that Colin and Eric are not easily broken.

Stop telling this lie. A. Race predicts your class because the wealth gap starts in the US with the impact of slavery. B. Even when class is similar, race impacts how you are treated as a member of that class. It's always about race. Always. From conception onward.

Many who tweeted about my father today would have hated him 50 years ago. He was for the eradication of poverty and caring for poor people. No human was an alien to him because he believed this is a World House. And he asserted that inequality in healthcare is most inhumane.
