TO CLARIFY: the most popular soya sauces bought in the UK (Kikkoman's, Blue Dragon) are produced in the EU. So, if we don't get a deal beyond transition, we'll be paying the tariff anyway.

WTO terms are irrelevant. We’ve been on JPN-EU deal terms at 0%. In fact: “In 2018 the top exporters of Soya sauce  were China ($160M), Netherlands ($103M), Japan ($75.8M), United States ($56.5M)” Let’s have an EU deal to keep it cheaper & with lower carbon footprint, please.

Very very much enjoying the actual Department for International Trade explaining that WTO terms are shit and you’d have to be insane to inflict them on yourself for no reason.

The reality of allowing food produced to lower standards into Britain is that this would undercut our farmers and force many of them out of business. It’s that serious which is why is so determined to keep standing up for our farmers on this issue.
