Holy crap, Sleep Number mattresses record you in your home. There is a microphone inside the mattress listening.

I’m curious if it’s a mic or if it’s through the app, either way it looks like Sleep Number owners had/ have no idea. I’m curious what people find out, and I’ll update with whatever I learn

As another pointed out: I am curious if this is a device in the mattress or done through the app. Don’t have a definitive answer yet, but either way owners seem unaware they are being recorded. Cc I’m curious if you get any info

Sleep Number’s beds do not record audio. We’re updating our privacy policy to clarify this.

Thank you for the clarification. Does this recording mentioned in your privacy policy take place through the app then? I want to make sure I update with accurate info

It looks more and more like the recording is done through the app, waiting for Sleep Number to comment on this bit. Still not great if users don’t know that’s happening. Will update as soon as I hear more, stressing over sharing false info

None of our other products have a voice module or microphones. None of our current products record or collect audio.

Legacy failure: "Sleep Number’s products do not record audio. It was included in our privacy policy as we were developing a prototype with an auto-snore feature. That product was never launched and we’re working to clarify this in our policy statement"

They acknowledged that there was a microphone in a model they sold. Additionally it was still mentioned in their terms of service, so no.

You can see it here in a recent archive of their page, I assume it was updated this week to remove it. replied to say that this was in a previous model bed and a prototype, but no current model and they would update the policy to reflect that
