There are rumours going round about doctors being paid more to write COVID-19 on death certificates. This is completely untrue. Doctors are not paid a fee for completing the medical certificate of cause of death and there is no pressure to write anything but the truth.

You can submit completed or preliminary reports be they for limited, full or imaging based PMs. Our clinical colleagues have requested this. Our aim is to collate all the data available to help develop treatments, so please submit.

Very true. High quality autopsies with access to & use of appropriate tests, done safely would really help the understanding of COVID-19 in many ways.

Autopsies would’ve really valuable but we’re just not doing them, in the U.K. either. Pathologists could reveal huge insights into what is going on and why and how people die, and help with how we treat the living.
