Mon français est très ... Uhm, how to say "rusty"? Regardless, I'd love to hear it.

The path is not hidden, merely uninteresting. Somewhere along it stands an unremarkable house. Knock, and a nondescript person will open. This is the Secret Archivist. "My secrets," I say. "Those that still scare me." The Archivist brings a book. It is smaller than it used to be.

being a writer is constantly a wild time. do you love writing? sure! do you know what you're doing? probably not! is your work brilliant, genius, trash, or all of them at once? yes! are you just a whole pile of anxieties stacked up and wearing a trench coat? no one knows!

I don't think refusal to admit to being wrong or mistaken can preserve authority, if there is any possibility the untruth can be revealed. I don't think authority over children comes from being infallible, but from being more knowledgeable. And being honest and trustworthy. BICBW

A writer of fiction can give insights and ideas and new perspectives, but psychologists and sociologists can give better advice. Me? "Be as honest, kind, humble, and patient, as you can. Listen, consider, explain. Admit errors and mistakes. Forgive and ask forgiveness."

He awoke in the night, alert and afraid. It was too quiet. His eyes went to the attic hatch. "Hello?" he whispered. It cracked open, slowly. "Still here," the monster whispered back, "You're not alone." He relaxed, and went back to sleep.

What makes you think I'm an authority on authority? I think I've regretted pretty much every time I've refusef to admit I'm wrong, to adults and children alike. It's just taken me longer to realise in some cases.

If you use Twitter search to look for "from:microsff change" (without the quotes) you might find some stories you'll like.

Thank you. While I enjoy comments, you are by no means obliged to give them. Likes and retweets are also greatly appreciated, and if that is to much, simply keep following to prop up my follower count. :-) (I am also quite shy, and often don't know how to reply to comments.)

At the reception, the alien ambassador turned to their human guide. "It seems so strange," they said, "that there are two distinct types of humans." "Ah, yes, 'men' and 'women'. You see-" "No, multiple sexes and genders is common. I mean how some are unable to say 'I was wrong'."

"Share your wisdom with us," the crowd called. "If you repeat something enough times," the Great Sage said, "it stops having meaning, and becomes mere sounds." The crowd waited. The Sage sat silent. At last, a single voice from the crowd asked; "Was that wisdom, or a refusal?"

I’m going to relate a tale (since I am out of bed) where crabbéd age and bitterness ruined a poet. (Thread)

Those prose-ish poems may be cool, and boldly brightly drawn. But in my house I have my rules: You kids get off my lawn!

I don't demand a clever rhyme, but reason must be there; and rhythm must be kept in mind, to make it move along.

It seems to me that poetry Is best when it's restrained When form goes hand in hand with thought To carry it aloft

But don't you need to know the rules, And know why they exist, To break with old and stagnant schools, To break new ground and breathe?

I guess I am conservative, A stuck-up boring fool, A jammed-up old preservative, Abiding by old rules
