Promoting career and technical education in every high school is a worthy goal. But we should also understand how CTE students fare. For this, listen to my @AEI colleague @natmalkus aei.org/multimedia/cte…

So much of Mr. Trump's appeal has been based on his ability to play to people's anxieties and fears. Will "it's morning again in America" work for him? Will he prove to be a successful messenger for that message? Will his base in swing states respond to that message? Stay tuned.

Judging by tonight's #SOTU, the president plans to campaign for reelection on a "it's morning again in America" theme.
Going from "American carnage" to "everything is awesome" in three years is quite something.

"...flush with cash, but which leaves our young and beautiful students deprived of knowledge; and the crime and gangs and drugs that have stolen too many lives and robbed our country of so much unrealized potential."
"This American carnage stops right here and stops right now."

From Pres. Trump's inaugural address:
"But for too many of our citizens, a different reality exists: Mothers and children trapped in poverty in our inner cities; rusted-out factories scattered like tombstones across the landscape of our nation; an education system..."

A 38–year-old mayor of a smallish city beating a former VP and a couple of Senators (not to mention outlasting everyone that dropped out) is a helluva story. Whatever happens next, that’s some accomplishment for Mayor Pete.

Senator Sanders’s position is clear: “Billionaires should not exist.” This is exactly the wrong message. A president should be rooting for more billionaires to exist.

Trump has offered support to white nationalists on several occasions. That’s an economic problem as well as a social and moral one because social stability is necessary for prosperity.

My segment on @SquawkCNBC today on #Coronavirus. We need to adapt our posture to focus not only on preventing introduction into U.S., but being able to detect outbreak quickly when it occurs. Next 2-3 weeks are a critical time when outbreaks could emerge. aei.org/press/discussi…

1/n Finally got around to reading @MichaelRStrain strain's piece in the @wsj. It's a very good piece that touches many issues, and I think gets the main point exactly right. But, I think it is right to expand on truthful concerns about the economy.
