PPVGiS are more into their thing than I have ever been into anything

Thing is, losing a milli here and there and some PR is no reason to change exploitative, profitable policies. I'd be keen to see an instance where, under any circumstances, a single day protest helped shift the policies of a corporate behemoth. It's just a blip.

I could be overly cynical but I think these kinds of one-offs serve amazon more than hurt them. Give the angry proletariat a sense of doing something about it without actually doing anything. I agree canceling Prime altogether is meaningful action, though

Lots of things come from third party vendors, sometimes overseas, which may as well be offworld for all the likelihood of finding an alternative way to get in touch But I agree *looking* is a worthwhile effort

I'm still not buying [thing] today, but at this point, out of guilt and sense of morality rather than feeling this'll help move any needle in any way. Addl. emotion: raw anger at our modern day slave factories and the Pharaohs who rule them The pyramids aren't worth it

only upon deciding not to buy something today, in solidarity with the Amazon worker protests, did it fully sink in just how useless this particular form of "activism" is. Bans are one thing, but "boycott TODAY to show them" feels like an empty gesture of pure virtue signaling

I think real-time engines are indeed closer, but the mutability/persistence problem and wrangling massive amounts of data are probably approach-agnostic in this regard

sorry, I'm having a hard time understanding the exact use case - why is saving as asset limiting and clunky? That aside, sounds like you're doing a lot of 3d mesh procgen that you want to persist - prob better suited for Blender or Houdini?

maybe, but I'd be surprised if the messaging around Godot (and lack thereof re. UE4) stayed the same.

can you elaborate on the shortcomings of the "save as asset" approach?

as in "too indie/small to pose an actual threat"? I bet folks at Autodesk felt the same abt. Blender a few years back:) I'll be genuinely surprised if they'd be comfortable with a double feature, but it sure would be nice.

Today in industry gambling: post-Epic's money infusion, how long will it take Blender to change its official game engine rec from Godot and how will promoting a non-OSS product be spun? (My money's on "weeks")

Yesterday I converted a couple of immutable data stores to ScriptableObjects, which was a good reason to revisit the talks by and . Add SOs to your toolset if you haven't yet - they're *incredibly* useful:

congrats, Cody - and thanks for making my time at ML and DX in particular such a treat. You are a beast of a 23x engineer and a 57x person - wherever your next gig may be, they're lucky to have you. Onwards and upwards!
