This is a statement of an increasingly widespread idea: that your innate nature is not in fact part of you but merely a fluke, an accident, a debt which you are born owing the world for having unjustly received what you had no right to.
It is a profoundly anti-human belief. pic.twitter.com/xQfGZLaFJ6

Great answer, thank you! Know the story of Purim but didn't know about this line in it or the connection to the theology - very powerful & instructive to see it explained.
Making me realize I could do more to look into Jewish theology.

I've noticed that when failure, losing, letting go etc feel beautiful in some way, it's far more natural for me to go down that path. (This is often but not always worse than fighting for a thing if I'm tracking non-beauty dimensions, e.g. how it would concretely affect my life.)

Starting to expect that, when people have a choice in any way, they are far more willing to let sad or tragic things happen to them, than let something happen to them which they find ugly.
Sadness often retains its beauty.

I'm only now learning about the concept of grace... do you think the Wiki article does a good job of conveying it?

The Jewish answer would be super interesting and welcome. (Am winging it spiritually at the moment, if that makes sense, but was raised reform Jewish and would love to know more.)

I need a theologian. Or a priest or something. Or a good book on theology.
What’s the way in which God does & does not have things handled, such that I have to work my whole life to make things better, and it’s on me to make good decisions, etc?
(@JeffLadish have sthg for me?)
